A guy hang up phone. I said is it St.John Catholic Church?.He said "yes" and I told him that I interested a lot in Catholic and ask for RCIA classes. It was unbelievable. He said I don't known...You are wrong. Then, the phone dropped .I don't understand why they aren't welcome me. Many Catholic said that they are always welcome for all people.

Hi, how would I be able to choose a U.S. embassy in overseas country during my Internship or Career? Which gives more choices in letting the prospect choose: free voluntary work (intern) or paid job (career)?
I do speak about 3 languages (English, Burmese and Mandarin [Chinese]) and additional 2 more: the other 2 not so conversational (understandable Japanese and pigeon Korean).
Would it be possible for me to choose a country before working in a U.S. embassy ? let's say Taiwan or Beijing, China or even Yangon, Myanmar (Burma)??? Since I speak the languages there or is it all random in placing embassy workers??? Thank you for your time, take care.

For an english project I wrote a story based in Myanmar(Burma). So what do you think of it? PLEASE TELL ME ANY MISTAKES!!!! I am only 12.
Lights
The lights of Maha Bandula bridge were never as bright as they were the night my father died. He was only 33 the night he took his last breaths. I looked into his eyes. I held him like he was the baby and I was the mother, a baby who couldn’t point Buddha’s hand in the direction of his destiny. I was alone. Malaria burned into his system and took over the person who I called father. He was not my father anymore. He was not the strong man that held me when I cried, not the man who supported, and cared for me. Our roles were switched. He was Theingi Nyunt. I don’t know why I thought of lights, but I guess our souls are like lights, bursts of energy scattered around earth. My name is Sonswe Nyunt, and this is the story of how I died.
My mother's eyes hardened.
“Why have you put in my vase?” She moaned as she reached into the cracked China. She brought out a handful of slimy, smelly cane frogs and dropped them on the floor. I looked down.
“Um they are...,” I said as I was trying to think of an excuse. What would she think if told her I was collecting them for fun? I paused.“...a collection, and I thought that vase would be perfect for their living conditions. I mean you weren’t using it!”
I was toast, she hates when I use her things. I was an odd 13 year old I had to say, and collecting frogs one of those reasons. I looked nothing like my mothers small, stout frame, I was like a sprouting bean that just kept on getting taller and taller. I towered over all the local women with my 5’10 frame. My coal, black hair reached my waist, and a portion of it covered my weirdest feature. My eyes. One was the color of the finest black tea, the kind that warms down to your soul and makes you feel as peaceful as a sleeping tiger. The other was blue. The clearest blue, the sky of Myanmar that hid the vaults of heaven. The kind that you imagine birds of paradise sweeping over collecting the fragrant nectar of kiwi trees swaying in the cool ocean breeze. I hated it. I was the only person in Yangon with this mutation, though my mother thought it was beautiful. Mothers, I thought, think everything that their child does is amazing. Even if that child is as ugly as the back-end of a horse. I smiled. My mother’s burning gaze lifted. She forgot about our insignificant conversation, and hurriedly grabbed her sandals and rushed out the door. I was confused. She shouted something as she closed the door to our condo.
“I forgot about the town meeting, don’t get into any trouble while I’m gone. And no more frogs!”
There was an edge of humor in voice and I knew she forgave me. My mother was a government representative in Yangon, and when someone needed her she had to go.
Yangon was like a dead fly. It was arid, dry, and crusty and the people we called leaders were like the maggots that dug into the flesh and destroyed so that they were able to come home with their bellies full of other peoples pain. I wandered out of the simple room, and out of Pyay Garden condos, to Yangon. I was on the hunt for oranges to sell in the market in my handwoven basket made of dried bamboo leaves. It was fun to have a little extra kyat in my pocket on days where a nice lahpet was necessary. It was an acquired taste, it was pickled tea. "A thee ma, thayet; a thar ma, wet; a ywet ma, lahpet,” I sung to myself. “Mangos are good, Beef is great, but none is better than lahpet!” I laughed. Someone heard.
I turned around. A shrunken pile of rags about 5 ft high that smelled of rotten fish slithered before me. That thing, I thought, was human! The smelly pile pulled out a bruised, dirty hand and smoothed across the upper rags to reveal a shock to me. The face behind the rags was simply stunning. It was a girl, about my age, with a face that looked as if it was chiseled by the greatest potter out of the most beautiful mahogany clay.
“Hello, I heard your voice over here, and I wanted to see who it was. Not many people walk around these areas you know. My name is Nadii,” she said as she nervously swayed on the spot. Her neck was abnormally long, it was covered in gold rings as was the tradition of the Kayan people. It was beautiful, in this minority, to have the longest neck as possible and it started at a young age. The women would stack gold rings on their neck until it slowly stretched and if they took them off they would surely die because their neck was so weak. She was from the nearby village, I could tell from the rings. Their village was terrorized by our government so that they could clear yet another piece of land for lumber. It was horrible. I couldn’t imagine being in her situation. I often ranted about these things as my mother obediently listened, normally focusing on something else, and chanted about how bad the government is. This probably was not smart considering the fact that
Ohhh it left out some...sorry. she dies in the end

I will be on extended stay for business/pleasure in Yangon and possibly Mandalay. I know about Myanmar's peculiar history and culture, and am currently practicing language (I am a fast learner but it is a tricky one!!!). Ok so my specific question is as follows:
I have a lump sum of money tens of thousands of dollars. I will be in and out of Myanmar for a number of years.... mostly in from what I understand. I want at least 15,000 U.S. dollars with me in the country minimum. I also want the rest of my money closely accessible. I understand that it is considered RELATIVELY safe to carry cash around and IN Myanmar. But what about the following: How can I effectively declare this money when leaving the U.S. in cash (i.e. in excess of 10,000) do I need pay check stubs receipts etc. etc.? How about going through customs in Myanmar? I know the country is relatively peaceful towards tourists but what about customs agents do they seize foreign money in excess of certain amounts, and/or tax you excessively? For some reason I feel it is less suspect and easier to move if I bring the bulk of my cash in Chinese Yuan rather than U.S Dollars, but a worse exchange rate is this true? Also what are my options for retrieving cash in Myanmar? I think there are only two or three hotels in Yangoon that will provide you cash based on a credit card. Does this mean you cannot directly access a U.S./foreign bank anywhere in Myanmar without paying at least 10% and holding a credit card (I do not own a credit card)? I know it seems like I answered my own question, but really I am interested in foreign bank accounts. For example can I access a Chinese, Thai, or Swiss bank account in Myanmar?
I am also very interested in bringing large quantities of personal effects to Myanmar. So for example I smoke cigars, drink tea, and eat chocolate and coffee. I would rather purchase those goods in bulk here and bring them to Myanmar. I also use mild health products that could be difficult to find in Myanmar or very expensive. Such as foot callous cushions, sleeping pills, arch supports.. Etc. Etc. normal over the counter stuff. As well as contact lenses and glasses (both prescription). I know they restrict/tax excess of 50-100 cigars, and a kilo of organic products. Where can I find specific information on penalties/tariffs for entering the country with a few thousand grams of tea, a few thousand grams of dark chocolate, health supplies in bulk over the counter and prescription etc. etc. ?
I know this is a huge laundry list of extensive questions few probably have the answers to, but the most specific and most information I can receive the more thankful and grateful I am. Also as aside note I am wondering about anti-malarial medications is it difficult to bring in more than a one year supply??
To recap I am staying extended. I know I will need to leave regularly to neighboring countries for visa updates etc. But have many items especially financial instruments that I want to bring direct from U.S. to Myanmar I need specific answers or a reference to where I can find specific answers about how much I can accomplish. Also as a side note I have studied extensively about the history, culture, military regime. My move is economic and cultural it has NOTHING to do with politics. I have no interests in the politics to me it is an unrelated, unfortunate circumstance of history that only the people of Myanmar must deal with. I know about the phone taps, internet monitoring, and lack of electricity in many regions. I don't need answers and comments about this. I plan on staying only in areas where foreigners are allowed and plan on following to the best of my ability every law that the acting governing body of Myanmar sets forward. I am Just unsure about specific entry/exit details. Thank you and have a great day!!!

Dear sir / madam,

please mummy and my daddy accept me as your daughter because i have lost my

i am miss katherine Lee, a 20 year old orphan from hangkai town in
kachin state of myanmar. my country was recently affected by a disasterous
cyclone and hurricane which affected irrawaddy delta regions e.g: ayeyarwady,
bago east, mon and yangon areas of myanmar on the 2nd may, 5th may and 6th
may of 2008.
my entire family and i were living in the irrawaddy delta region when this
deadly hurricane struck and i lost my entire family. i happened to be the only
survivor. my only uncle and his entire family were also consumed by this evil
and the deadly hurricane.
however,i was able to secure the information which shows that my uncle had
a fix deposit account valued at the sum of $ 10.8 million deposited in one bank outside myanmar.
my uncle was into crude oil / petroleum business in one of the middle east countries
before he decided to come back to myanmar to establish his own business a few months before the deadly hurricane sruck.
i have contacted the bank where my uncle deposited the funds by email and they
requested me to secure a letter of administration from a high court in myanmar
as the only survivor in my entire family that entitles me as the sole beneficiary
of my uncles funds.I have already secured the letter of administration in my
name dated 20th october 2008.
i was also requested by the bank to present a woman or a man that is above 30 years
who will receive the above funds on my behalf from the bank since a 20 year old girl
like me can not receive the funds from the bank according to the constitution of
that country.
my major reason for contacting you is for you to assist me in receiving the funds
from the bank because they have given me a short time to claim the funds
or the funds will be forfeited to a new company that wants to acquire the bank with
a new name according to the constitution of that country.
you will receive the funds through your account in your country on my behalf for you
to assist me in furthering my education and for investment purposes on my
behalf.
you and i will enter into a legal agreement and your compensation for assisting me
is already indicated in the legal agreement which i will send to you. i will later
send you the three documents regarding the funds payment to you namely,a copy of the
legal agreement between the two of us, a copy of my church identification and a copy
of the letter of administration secured from a high court in myanmar in my name as
the sole beneficiary of the total funds deposited in the bank.
i have no passport and no traveling documents therefore as soon as you
receive the funds, you will send me some money from the funds to enable me secure
my passport and other traveling documents for me to come over to your country.
since i have not met you before,i have the strong faith and belief in GOD almighty that
you will not take an advantage of my helpless situation.
as soon as you respond to this my appeal proposal through my email address
kathylee.chow@yahoo.com i will send you all the necessary documents
regarding this funds transfer to your account and my church identification to enable the
bank contact you immediately for the purpose of releasing the funds to your account in

(CNN) -- United Nations chief Ban Ki-moon was denied permission to see Myanmar pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi, reporters traveling with the secretary-general said Saturday.
Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi has been held in confinement for 13 of the past 19 years.
Ban is in Myanmar at the invitation of the ruling military junta for talks that are expected to include the detention of Suu Kyi, as well as the detention of other political prisoners.Officials in Myanmar delayed the resumption of the trial of Suu Kyi Friday. The delay is the latest in a string of postponements and came as U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon arrived in the Asian nation for talks with government officials.
"The secretary-general believes that the sooner these issues are addressed, the earlier Myanmar will be able to move towards peace, democracy and prosperity," Michele Montas, Ban's spokeswoman, said this week. "He looks forward to meeting all key stakeholders to discuss what further assistance the United Nations can offer to that end."
Ban told CNN in May that he was in talks with Myanmar's leadership about traveling to Yangon to seek Suu Kyi's release, as well as push for democratization.
Suu Kyi has been barred for life from running for political office, but human rights groups suspect that Myanmar's junta worries that her release would invigorate the opposition. She has been the focus of a global campaign to free her.
Her National League for Democracy won more than 80 percent of the legislative seats in 1990, but she was disqualified from serving because of her house arrest, and the military regime ignored the results.
Suu Kyi married a British man, who died in 1999, and they have two sons. Myanmar's government now says citizens who have borne children with foreigners cannot run for office.

SEOUL, South Korea – A North Korean-flagged ship under close watch in Asian waters is believed to be heading toward Myanmar carrying small arms cargo banned under a new U.N. resolution, a South Korean intelligence official said Monday.
Still, analysts say a high seas interception — something North Korea has said it would consider an act of war — is unlikely.
The Kang Nam, accused of engaging in illicit trade in the past, is the first vessel monitored under the new sanctions designed to punish the North for its defiant nuclear test last month. The U.S. military began tracking the ship after it left a North Korean port on Wednesday on suspicion it was carrying illicit weapons.
A South Korean intelligence official said Monday that his agency believes the North Korean ship is carrying small weapons and is sailing toward the Myanmar city of Yangon.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity citing the sensitive nature of the information, said he could provide no further details.
Myanmar's military government, which faces an arms embargo from the U.S. and the European Union, reportedly has bought weapons from North Korea in the past.

...the uninvited guest or the unsuspecting home owner?
Isn't it so blatant & obvious that Aung San Suu Kyi is being charged only because...Her detention is currently scheduled to end May 27.
The military junta cannot legally extend her house arrest any longer, Nyan Win said."According to the law, if they extend the detention, it will be an infringement," he said. "We hope that from the present international pressure ... she will be released." Suu Kyi was first detained in 1989 and authorities have extended her detention regularly.
London, May 14 (ANI): Burmese authorities are to charge the pro-democracy leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, and her two maids over an incident in which an American swam across a lake to visit her at her house, her National League for Democracy party said on Thursday.
Police in the military-ruled nation detained John Yettaw, a US national, last week for gaining access to the 63-year-old Nobel laureate's off-limits residence in Yangon and staying there for two days.
"Her lawyer said the authorities will charge the lady and her two maids at the court in Insein prison," Nyan Win, a spokesman for her National League for Democracy party, referring to Myanmar's most notorious jail.
According to The Telegraph, it is not known what the man's motive was or what he did at Suu Kyi's home, where he spent two days.
According to the New Light of Burma newspaper, a mouth piece for the military regime, he swam into the compound on Sunday night but was only detected and arrested as he swam out of the compound on Tuesday night.
Aung San Suu Kyi, 65, is the daughter of the country's independence hero, General Aung San, and the world's only Nobel peace laureate currently in detention. She has spent most of the last 19 years under house arrest since winning national elections in 1990. (ANI)
Edit: Ooooops..typo!!! Please read that as "When an UNinvited guest visits your house surreptitiously, who is to blame?"

Hi there! My Brother is studying in Bangkok with student visa. He came from Yangon, Myanmar. Now he finished his thesis and going back home. Before that, he wants to visit to me (Singapore) then he'll go to Yangon. What i'm worried is, can it be any problem bcoz he holds a student visa (Yangon-Bangkok) but now he'll go back home from Singapore. Any advise?
Pytanie #31:
Dear Dick, thanks for the information, and don't worry about me and mind altering substances. The hardest thing I put into my body these days is Fresca... :D
Pytanie #32:
I've only got a few pages left in my passport so I'm thinking of getting a new one in Myanmar or Bangladesh, so the place of issuance will be listed as Yangon or Dhaka. But when I apply for a visa to a country that often rejects visa applications (eg. Kazakhstan), could the place of issuance of the passport be a factor? Maybe they think if it's issued in a place like London there's less suspicion of authenticity than if it's issued in a country with a reputation for fraudulent documents?
Heretix: Hmm... Bangladesh and Myanmar are both officially socialist country. Maybe I should get it in Singapore then.

I watched this movies years ago and since then I looked all over the internet for it but I can't find it. This is what I remember about the movie:
1 The language was french, dubbed over I don't know.
2 The primary character is a woman.
3 The events seem to be in the vietnam war era.
There's a few scenes I remember.
The biggest one is near the end, where the woman with hundreds of Asian refugees are crossing a bridge over a river (based on stuff I read about the war in vietnam the bridge was a link into another country) and then a miltary force also Asian begins to shoot and bombard the people with mortars. Eventually the bridge collapses and everyone is forced to swim across with many drowning, in the end the woman makes it across. thats all i remember form the scene.
The other one I remember is the woman is on a raft with a man and a boy (both asian) and they come to a hutwith the red cross emblem on it,the boys hands a pistol to the woman as she gets off, the woman gets off and goes into the hut, in the mean time the boy sabotages the motor on the raft by pulling the gas line (or something like that). In the hut there's blood stains on the wall, the woman come to a cabinet filled with medicine and she uses her shirt as a sling for the meds, then she turns around and a soldier (asian) stumbles into the room (drunk or wounded I can't remember). Then the scene changes showing the outside of the hut where the raft is then theres a shot heard from the hut, the mans tries to start the motor but can't because of the boy, then the boy see the woman running from the hut towards the raft and the boy fixes the motor guns it as the woman leaps on the raft, thats the end of the scene.
The title was in french and my mother translated is as best as she could and it was either: the road to yangoon, or the bridge to yangoon. I looked up yangoon and I found that it was the former capital of burma and is spelled yangon and is also known as rangoon so the the title may have been rangoon instead of yangoon. If anyone knows the name of this movie I would greatly appreciate it if they will answer this question.
Pytanie #34:
YANGON, Myanmar – The United Nation's special envoy to Myanmar was expected to meet detained opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi during a visit to the country that began Saturday, the latest effort to coax democratic reforms from the ruling junta.
The four-day trip by U.N. special envoy Ibrahim Gambari comes amid criticism that his three-year mission has failed to produce significant results.
The 63-year-old Suu Kyi, who has spent more than 13 of the past 19 years under house arrest, refused to see Gambari during his last visit in August. The snub sent a message that the detained Nobel Peace Prize laureate was dissatisfied with the United Nations' unsuccessful efforts to bring about change in the military-ruled nation.
"I strongly believe that Daw Aung San Suu Kyi will meet the special envoy this time," said Nyan Win, spokesman for Suu Kyi's National League for Democracy party. "Daw" is a term of respect.

I picked up the wall street journal and saw how persons are not buying suv's then I read about China and how vehicles can use the highways every other day using the plate numbers. i was excited to see how speculators can create war and chaos.
I watched the news to see Saudi Arabi speak out and tell the world they did not set the prices for oil. I then read about the Gaza strip and the peace fire or seize fire...I also saw the Mid west our farming state emerged in flooding . I read about the IMF and thats the International moetary Fund, regarding the economy and accelerating inflation. i read about Chavez and the Banking system he is establishing....I read about Yangon and its new problems ...It is time for peace and time to establish solutions among the people.... Let the Haters be Haters and let the peace makers solve the problems they create.... There is a time to every season and all things must change for the next generation to florish..Let us not forget Cuba and the progress .
